Immersive virtual reality training module for active shooter events

چکیده

Active shooter events are not emergencies that can be reasonably anticipated. However, these do occur more than we think, and there is a dire need for an effective evacuation plan increase the likelihood of saving lives reducing casualties in event active shooting incident. This has raised major concern about lack tools would allow robust predictions realistic human movements understanding interaction designated environments. Clearly, it impractical to carry out live experiments where thousands people evacuated from buildings designed every possible emergency condition. There been progress movement, motion synthesis, crowd dynamics, indoor environments their relationships with events, but challenges remain. paper presents immersive virtual reality (VR) experimental setup conducting drills response extreme impact actions occupants. We have presented two ways controlling behavior. First, by defining rules agents or NPCs (Non-Player Characters). Second, providing controls users as avatars PCs (Player characters) navigate VR environment autonomous keyboard/ joystick along headset real time. The results will enable scientists engineers develop models systems they designing, obtain greater insights into eventual behavior, without having build costly prototypes.

Using Immersive Virtual Reality for Electrical Substation Training

Usually, distribution electricians are called upon to solve technical problems found in electrical substations. In this project, we apply problem-based learning to a training program for electricians, with the help of a virtual reality environment that simulates a real substation. Using this virtual substation, users may safely practice maneuvers with varying degrees of complexity. To improve t...

Immersive Mixed Reality for Manufacturing Training

In complex manufacturing a considerable amount of resources is focused on training workers and developing new skills. Increasing the effectiveness of those processes and reducing the investment required is an outstanding issue. In this paper, we present an experiment (n = 20) that shows how modern metaphors such as collaborative mixed reality can be used to transmit procedural knowledge and cou...
